Our Story

Our mission looks beyond the paradigm of traditional medicine to showcase the full therapeutic potential of plant-medicines, previously unavailable to the Australian market.

At Phytoca, we work in conjunction with our family business in Europe, based out of Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain and Czech Republic, having pioneered research in cannabis genetics, seeds and strains for over 40 years.

Our company’s research is focused on the development of products containing uniquely rich cannabinoid, terpene, and flavonoid profiles extracted from whole plants.

While many companies have a patient-first focus, we have a plants-first focus. We believe if you take care of the plants, better patient outcomes will follow. Getting to this point is a matter of both nature and nurture.

Genetics

Genetics is where everything starts.

Put simply, if a plant’s ancestors are lacking phytocannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids, it is unlikely that any future plant generations will produce the right chemovars (chemical composition) to create a finished product rich in cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids.

Process – Nature

Cultivation

Cultivation is crucial.

It requires a lot of skill to grow commercial quantities of cannabis in a sterile environment, ensuring the correct nutrients are supplied, all whilst fending off mould, fungus, insects and disease.

Process – a mix of Nature & Nurture

Manufacturing

Manufacturing is the final piece of the puzzle.

Certain forms of extraction and post-production techniques impact different parts of the plant. In particular, this affects retaining the presence and function of more volatile compounds, such as terpenes and flavonoids.

Process – Nurture
